أشرف رئيس الجمهورية، الرئيس الدوري للاتحاد الافريقي، السيد محمد ولد الشيخ الغزواني، صحبة رئيسة جمهورية تنزانيا الاتحادية السيدة سامية صولحو حسن، ورئيس الوزراء الأثيوبي السيد آبى أحمد، ورؤساء دول وحكومات مجموعة تنمية الجنوب الأفريقي SADC، ورئيس مفوضية الاتحاد الإفريقي السيد موسى فقيه محمد، صباح اليوم الأحد بمقر الاتحاد الإفريقي في أديس أبابا، على حفل إزاحة الستار عن تمثال النصب التذكاري للرئيس التنزاني الراحل جوليوس انيريرى، الذي يعتبر من أبرز الزعماء الأفارقة دعاة الوحدة الافريقية وأكثرهم مناهضة للوجود الاستعماري في القارة الإفريقية.

وقد استطاع الراحل بحنكته السياسية، توحيد إقليمي تنجانيقا وزنجبار، لتصبح فيما بعد جمهورية تنزانيا الاتحادية عام 1964، كما لعب دورا طلائعا في دعم الحركات التحررية في القارة الإفريقية.

وقد قرر الاتحاد الإفريقي على أعلى مستوى أن يخصص له هذا التكريم الذي أشرف على تدشينه اليوم رئيس الجمهورية، الرئيس الدوري للاتحاد الإفريقي بمقر الاتحاد الإفريقي في أديس أبابا.
